Karakia (incantations) are an important and vibrant part of Māori tikanga (protocols). In this course you will become familiar with the significance of their use, their connection to the concepts of tapu (restricted or sacred) and noa (free from tapu) and how they make and hold space for people to meet, discuss and go about their mahi (work). This course will develop your te reo language proficiency and your confidence.
